Massage Therapy

Massage is an age old practice that involves manual therapy for the body. Massage can be helpful for your overall health, and for treatment of pain and specific conditions. Massage is known to help with relaxation, reduction of anxiety, depression, and pain reduction. Often, massage therapy is complimentary to other therapeutic methods.

Your therapist will assist you in creating a treatment plan that is tailored to individual needs.

At Crossroads Collective, we have body workers and registered massage therapists (RMT) who provide massage therapy. We offer direct billing to ICBC and several extended health insurers. Our goal is to take care of the paperwork so you can focus on your health. Please visit our Rates page for more information.

The following conditions are commonly treated with massage therapy:

  • Low back pain
  • Neck and shoulder pain
  • Headaches/migraines
  • Injuries resulting from motor vehicle or workplace accidents
  • Overuse injuries
  • Muscle strains
  • Sports injuries
  • Tennis/golfers elbow
  • Carpel tunnel syndrome

This list is not exhaustive. Please call us if you have questions. You can book your appointment online here.

What to expect for your first treatment:

We will provide you with an intake form and ask that you complete it in advance of your appointment. This form provides us with information regarding your medical history and the reason for your visit, prior to seeing your therapist.

At the beginning of the appointment, your therapist will inform you of the risks and benefits of massage therapy and give you an opportunity to ask questions to ensure we have your informed consent for massage therapy. Your therapist will speak with you about your history and the reason for your visit. The therapist may conduct a manual assessment.

Our goal is to have you comfortable with the process prior to beginning the massage. It is not mandatory that you disrobe to benefit from massage therapy, and details will be discussed with your therapist prior to treatment beginning.

I completed a 3000 hour training program and received a Diploma in Massage Therapy from WCCMT. I have been a registered massage therapist in BC since 2012 and I love this job because it allows me to help people and provide care for them. I do my best to work with clients to address their issues and help them achieve better health.
For several years I competed in various sports or fitness ventures that include hockey, ball hockey, and a fitness competition. Part of being a competitive athlete meant receiving different kinds of therapy including massage. I was thrilled at the results my RMT was able to get me, and that started my interest in becoming an RMT so I could help others the same way. My years in training have taught me a lot about the body and also exposed me to lots of injuries and ailments. This experience helps me to relate to my clients and understand the complexities of our bodies!

Marcie Camilleri
Massage Therapist

I am a massage therapist trained in Alberta, that has a passion to contribute to optimizing someone’s quality of life. I believe in living a balanced life and realize how challenging it is to maintain. It is my goal to communicate with my clients to get a clear understanding of what physical needs need to be met to achieve this part of their balance.

I have 3000 hours of training and have graduated from Makami College with an Advanced Clinical Massage Diploma. I like to incorporate different modalities that range from relaxation massage to deep tissue including myofascial release, cupping and trigger point therapy.  These modalities do extend to Advanced Neuromuscular Therapy, Pregnancy Massage, Lymphatic Drainage and Hot Stone. Combining these different techniques makes for a relaxing, yet effective massage relieving tight muscles from every day use or injuries resulting from over use.

In the past I have been a manager of a gym for many years, as well as a lifeguard and swim instructor. I have also competed in fitness / figure competitions, all which have contributed to my knowledge of the body. I decided to become an RMT because I love helping people. Becoming part of someone’s journey into healing is a huge reward for me as I have been on the other side of receiving that gift. Paying it forward to my clients is what fulfills me at the end of the day. I strongly believe in staying active (running with a furry friend 😉) or in the gym to live a healthy happy life.
