Behaviour Consultant Kelowna
behaviour consultant Kelowna Helping Children
A behavioural consultation is held with our counsellors or programmers to address any concerns parents have. After that, a meeting is held with the parent and our team. Goals and strategies for moving forward are discussed with the child for the behaviour consultant Kelowna goals.
Programs we provide include play therapy, therapy animals, and escorting the child around town. We also use various behaviour experts to adjust the Individual Education Plan of each child by working with parents, teachers, and school counsellors.
Behavioural Intervention Kelowna
Reinforcement is used to intervene in behaviors that may negatively affect a child in this type of behavioural modification therapy.
These techniques provide a roadmap for managing and regulating children’s behavior, which is one of the biggest challenges parents face.
Behavioral therapists work with parents to teach therapeutic programs based on the needs of their children. These skills include
- Communication, play, and social skills
- Functional life skills and daily living skills
- Sensory systems and self-regulation
- Gross and fine motor skills
The ABC’s of Behaviour Management at Home
Before you examine problematic behaviour, remember to consider the antecedent conditions and their consequence of it.
Antecedents: Preceding factors that make a behaviour more or less likely to occur. Learning and anticipating triggers is an extremely helpful tool in preventing misbehaviour.
Behaviours: These are the specific behaviours you’re aiming to foster or prevent.
Consequences: Behaviour is generally more likely to occur again when consequences are more advantageous to the person exhibiting the behaviour than not exhibiting it.
Contact us to set up a meeting with a behaviour consultant Kelowna if you are experiencing difficulties with your child’s behavior at home. You can also access funding through local agencies through Crossroads Collective.
