Many of us feel stuck in our daily lives, not knowing exactly how to get the progress that we want. Depression, anxiety, and trauma can hold us back from where we deserve to be and can negatively affect our well-being and relationships. No two people are the same and it is my goal to help you recognize your own unique strengths, integrating a case-specific approach to create your unique therapy plan. I am here to offer mental health support in a non-judgmental, friendly, and compassionate space.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and licensed with the BCACC with an RCC designation. I am also registered with the CCPA and have a CCC designation. I am a member of the BC Chapter of the Association of Family Conciliation Courts.

Additionally, I am registered as a counsellor with the Crime Victim Assistance Program and have further training and certification in Trauma-Focused CBT to be able to help those who have symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder, fear, anxiety, or depression, related to traumatic life events.

I am part of the Crossroads Collective High Conflict team which specializes in working with families who are navigating heightened levels of conflict, and/or have been court-involved. I am trauma-informed and have specialized knowledge and extensive training in high-conflict family dynamics.

I have experience working with clients who are neurodivergent and recognize the unique differences that come with that. I have supported children, youth, and adults with ADHD, Autism, ODD, and OCD.

I have a play therapy certificate and love working with kids to offer mental health support in a fun, friendly, and compassionate space. Trained in the foundations of play therapy, I use this method to help children express and process their thoughts, feelings, and experiences, while guiding them in building coping skills and emotional regulation.

As an option, I am able to meld my two passions: psychology and music to offer music-integrated therapy. This can be particularly useful in calming the autonomic nervous system, reducing anxiety, and building self-confidence and competency through a creative outlet that brings joy.

Clinical Counsellor, Play Therapist

It isn’t easy to seek support, but here you are. You’ve already jumped over a very tough hurdle! I bring warmth and compassion to each interaction and believe in the innate ability we all have to heal and grow. It’s my goal to help you find a deeper appreciation and understanding of self and to expand your capacity for lifelong resiliency in a space where you feel seen and heard.

Life is tough sometimes. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck or unable to cope, I can help you. I am passionate about helping children and youth become empowered and in charge of their thoughts. If your child is having a hard time with thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, I am here to support as well. You are not alone.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) through BCACC. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Masters of Counselling from City University and currently, I am working towards becoming a Certified Play Therapist. Prior to counselling, I worked as a Kindergarten Teacher for nearly 10 years. It was this role as an early childhood educator that ignited my desire to help children through the challenges of life with more depth and meaning. It fuelled my curiosity around attachment theory and how adverse childhood experiences affect the developing brain, impacting children’s emotional and developmental trajectory. Which ultimately filters into our lives as adults.

I am passionate about helping young children, youth, and adults process their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a way that grants them the awareness that they are truly capable and worthy. Through a person-centered, holistic and collaborative approach, my practice aims to help shift unhelpful thinking and exercise healthy coping. I’ll help you identify the physiological responses, process the root cause and learn effective self-regulation to make daily life feel lighter and more enjoyable.  I am equally as enthusiastic to work with caregivers and families to support in better understanding the why behind behaviours, strategies for dealing with diverse needs, and personal struggles.

My approach is integrative and based on your unique needs; I may utilize CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Somatic Practices, Play Therapy and Psychoeducation. I work within a range of areas such as:

  • Emotional Regulation
  • Coping Skills
  • Boundaries
  • Stress

Clinical Counsellor, Play Therapist

For us to heal from the experiences and struggles we face, we must allow ourselves to process our thoughts and emotions. I work with clients in a gentle and non-judgemental manner. I offer short term and long term goals focused on counselling for children, youth and adults.

I support children, youth and adults who feel stuck, anxious, and unable to enjoy their present lives. Our past struggles and experiences can sometimes leave a negative residue on us and prevent us from living freely. For us to heal from the experiences and struggles we face we must allow ourselves to process our thoughts and emotions so we can truly move past them.

I work with clients in a gentle and non judgmental manner to support you in navigating through your struggles and help you cope effectively. I offer short term and long-term goal focused counselling for children, youth, and adults. I have experience helping clients to cope with depression and anxiety, build self-esteem and self-acceptance.

I have spent many years as a behavioral therapist working with children and youth on the autism spectrum. I offer counselling for children with autism as well as support for parents. No matter what your struggle or difficulty is, I will work with you to support you in learning and developing the skills you need to help cope with the challenges you face.

This is your journey. Only you have lived your life and become the person you are today. You know what you need, or maybe you just know you want something different, and I’m here to walk that path with you.

I offer non-judgmental, collaborative, client-centered, strengths-based support to help you process whatever it is you are working through. One of the things I enjoy most about this work is being able to help adults and youth become empowered again– remind them that they are stronger than they think, that many of the resources or answers are already there, waiting to be uncovered.

Some of the hardships I have assisted people with are:

    • Past traumas that they feel “stuck” with.
    • Recent traumas and feeling overwhelmed.
    • Working through panic attacks and other anxiety disorders
    • Improving communication in relationships
    • Working out boundaries and creating plans for difficult conversations

I have had the good fortune to be supporting people since 2007, when I began working in Mental Health and Addictions. I always knew that I wanted to be a trauma counsellor (growing up with a first responder for a father was bound to do that to one of us 4 kids), so I knew I needed to continue with my education and experience. In 2010 I obtained my Bachelor of Social Work degree and began working as a Probation Officer. While I enjoyed working with people and facilitating groups, probation was not where I ultimately wanted to be so I pursued my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree from Yorkville University. After completing that practicum in 2013 and facilitating trauma groups, I began work as a trauma counsellor in a local non-profit, assisting women who had experienced childhood sexual abuse, sexual assault and/or domestic violence. More recently I have been working as a generalist counsellor, supporting people with a wide variety of issues/concerns.

My areas of specialization are:

    • Addictions
    • Anger Management
    • Anxiety
    • Communication/Boundaries
    • Critical Incident Stress
    • Depression
    • Domestic Violence
    • Self-Esteem
    • Stress Management
    • Trauma

I use the following modalities when working with clients:

    • Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy
    • Dialectic Behavioural Therapy
    • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)
    • Mindfulness
    • Motivational Interviewing
    • Narrative Therapy
    • Psychoeducation

Feeling heard and unconditionally accepted can help us feel safe while exploring vulnerable parts of ourselves. This can be especially important if the thoughts and feelings that live within our vulnerability prevent us from feeling like we deserve to grow and be at ease with ourselves. I therefore consider it a sincere honour to be able to sit with you as we navigate and process what brought you to counselling. Moreover, I find passion in collaborating with you on ways that we can challenge the thoughts and feelings that stifle your inner peace, self-acceptance, and hope.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree from Yorkville University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Simon Fraser University. Initially I pursued psychology because I wanted to develop a deeper understanding of people. I therefore volunteered for several non-profit organizations both during and after my undergraduate studies. During my time as a volunteer, I worked with diverse people in socially and therapeutically supportive ways. These experiences evolved my love for learning about people into a love for listening to their stories. However, my previous volunteer work as a crisis line call-taker solidified my passion for playing an active role in supporting people therapeutically. It is now my honour to do this as a clinical counsellor.

While my approach to therapy is Person-Centered, I think about the person primarily from a Cognitive Behavioural lens. As such, I utilize related interventions, though I also integrate elements of Existential, Narrative, Gestalt, Mindfulness-Based, and Solution-Focused therapies as well. Regardless of how I conceptualize the person and their situation, I remain dedicated to personalizing the therapeutic experience by being flexible, collaborative, and affirming.

I believe in meeting the client where they are at and supporting an exploration of their own life experiences. I offer an integrated approach to counselling where I may use different theories catered to support your unique needs. My passions in my personal life shine through in my personality and my ability to help, as I have taken many steps to engage in things I find true joy in and maintain my health through my own development in my mind, body and spirit. I enjoy a lot of time outside on trails walking or hiking and enjoying hobbies such as kayaking, camping and snowboarding. While life can be challenging to fit in healthy routines I have developed skills to increase my own well-being and apply this approach to support clients in increasing their own strengths, abilities and resources.

Intern Counsellor, Play Therapist

During times of stress and uncertainty, reaching out for help can feel difficult, but vulnerability is the catalyst to growth and sometimes we need a helping hand during life’s inevitable challenges. As someone who has navigated many life complexities and experienced the benefits of professional mental health care, I know how powerful this work can be. Creating a safe space for judgement-free exploration to work through your past and present struggles is very important to me as well as working collaboratively to reach your goals.

While teaching high school for twenty years, I developed my passion for empowering youth in discovering their unique abilities, individual worth, and potential. My experiences as a teacher and mother of two have provided me with many skills and insights that I feel will complement my abilities as a counsellor.

There is no “one size fits all” in therapy, so I use a holistic, culturally sensitive, multi-lens approach that includes a variety of techniques and strategies to help understand and work through your specific concerns. With over 400 hours of yoga teacher training, I also bring an understanding of the mind-body connection along with the power of movement, breath, and meditation to my counselling practice.

Overall, my goal as a counsellor is to help others pave a path towards their best life.
