I believe it is my role to help you harness your natural ability to heal. In a safe and non-judgmental environment, I will support you to deepen your own insights and self-awareness. My goal is to work with you, to help you, to begin to understand and put words to your feelings and experiences. When we can articulate our experiences and emotions it helps us to begin to create a sense of understanding and control in our lives. I will work to educate you on why you may feel or act a certain way. I will help you move through and release feelings such as anger, anxiety, shame, loneliness, self-criticism, and grief. My goal is to help you develop self-compassion and find hope and joy for the future. In session I use a holistic and attachment based approach to counselling that helps you achieve this.
As a Trauma focused therapist, I help people who have experienced difficulties and challenges at any stage in their life. I use my specialized training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Focusing and Mindfulness to help you process and understand your experiences. Together we will work to empower you to find new ways to harness your natural capacity to heal and move forward in your life.
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) through BCACC. I completed my Master’s of Arts in Counselling Psychology and my Bachelor degree in Child and Youth Care. On my professional journey I have worked with children, youth, families, parents and foster parents. My work has allowed me to see no matter how big a problem feels; it is human nature to want to move forward and restore balance to our lives.
