Janette Carr

Clinical Counsellor, Play Therapist, Registered Professional Counsellor, Registered Social Worker

Many people come to therapy because they feel stuck and have a hard time moving forward.

I work with adults seeking a safe place to tell their stories and make sense of their situations.

If talking is what you need, my job is to support you and help you feel heard. I can help you build resources and develop a plan to go from just surviving to thriving.

Oftentimes, unprocessed trauma can lead us to feel reactive, emotionally raw, anxious, and depressed. By looking into the events that have shaped us and delving into their roots, we can reprocess traumatic experiences, helping the body and mind heal and bringing relief. I use an integrative therapy approach utilizing, for example, somatic therapy, attachment, and EMDR.

Helping clients heal and lead better lives is my passion. It may mean working through trauma, helping you change patterns, or helping you to reprocess stuck points that you thought you could never overcome. My goal is to help you feel better so you can live the life that you’ve always wanted. Contact me today for a free consultation, and we’ll get started.

I work with adults and couples, specializing in areas such as relationships, trauma, depression, stress/anxiety, addictions, grief, workplace issues, and family relational concerns.

I will start by first gaining an understanding of where you are now and the challenges that you are facing. I help you put a plan in place to move forward, and we celebrate your progress. We also address your struggles and/or feelings of frustration when you can’t communicate without the other person becoming upset, and when it feels hopeless trying to figure out how to fix the problem. During such difficult times, know that you’re not alone, that your feelings are valid, and there is hope for things to change for the better.

I am a Registered Clinical Counselor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counselors (BCACC) and a Canadian Certified Counselor (CCC) with the Canadian Counseling and Psychotherapy Association. I also have my master’s degree in social work (MSW) and am registered with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW). I am working towards completing my Clinical Supervisor training for BCACC.
