JASMEEN TIWANA

Intern Counsellor

When life feels overwhelming, it can be difficult to know where to begin. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, stress, big emotions, relationship challenges, or a significant life change, my goal is to provide a space where you feel heard and supported as we work toward greater understanding and meaningful change.

My path toward becoming a counsellor has been shaped by a genuine curiosity about people and an interest in understanding how our emotions, relationships, nervous system, and lived experiences influence the way we move through life. Through my work with youth and young adults in residential care, I have seen how meaningful it can be to simply have a space where you feel heard and supported without judgment, particularly when navigating anxiety, stress, trauma, and emotional challenges. My experience supporting children and families has also taught me the importance of meeting each person where they are and recognizing the strengths they already bring with them.

In my counselling work, I am especially passionate about supporting women, children, young adults, and families. I am particularly interested in anxiety, stress and burnout, emotional regulation, behavioural concerns, relationship challenges, trauma, and life transitions. I also have an interest in women’s wellness and supporting individuals experiencing emotional stress related to physical health concerns and significant changes in their lives.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and client-centred, and I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel heard, supported, and comfortable exploring what you’re going through. I am particularly interested in helping clients build awareness of their emotions and nervous system responses, develop strategies for regulation, and learn to make space for difficult emotions rather than feeling overwhelmed by them.

My therapeutic approach is primarily informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) while also drawing from relational, strengths-based, and trauma-informed perspectives. I believe difficult emotions are a natural part of our experiences, and counselling can provide a space to understand and navigate them with greater compassion. Together, we can explore what matters most to you and work toward a life that feels more aligned with your personal goals and values.

I am currently completing my Master of Counselling Psychology and am a Counselling Intern at Crossroads Collective. My background in psychology, community mental health, behavioural intervention, and supporting children and families has shaped both my interest in counselling and the way I hope to show up for clients.

Outside of counselling, I enjoy spending time outdoors, especially going for walks in nature or by the beach, and I love baking. I value wellness, connection, and finding moments of balance in everyday life.
