About Michael

My passion revolves around helping my clients find their direction in life.  I can help all clients at any stage of their lifecycle deal with the difficult issues they face.

I am experienced working with clients dealing with:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Anger Management
  • Substance Misuse

In addition, I am particularly proficient in helping youth and young adults navigate their modern-day difficulties.  Life transitions, family structure changes, and grief are also areas where clients can find relief through our work together.

I completed my masters through Yorkville University and I am registered both the BCACC and the CCPA.  In addition, I am a licensed teacher in both Ontario and BC which makes me all the more sensitive to the needs to youth and young adults.  I have been working in private practice since 2018.  I also spent years overseas teaching which makes me sensitive to having an inclusive and multicultural practice.

As a self-reflective practitioner, I am constantly working to maximizing the benefits to my clients to ensure they are successfully able to deal with change and life.

Some of my specializations are:

  • Assertiveness/boundaries
  • Personal development
  • Self-harm and harm reduction
  • Transitions
  • Career planning and coaching
  • Relationship issues
  • Grief and loss counselling
  • Mediation
  • Trauma

My approach is versatile and dynamic where I use a variety of approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and other interventions as the client requires.  In addition, I have completed the Level 1 Observed and Experiential Integration (OEI) Therapy workshop so have skills to help clients wot work through complex trauma.  Through this eclectic approach, I give my clients the tools counselling can provide which clients can apply to provide solutions in their daily lives.
