I am here to walk with you through challenging life experiences or crises, being able to hold your pain and the depth in which you are affected by it. You can expect an approach to counselling that aligns with Carl Roger’s person centered therapy which is displayed through this quote, which I value and offer in my practice “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change”. I am here to accept your experience and feelings without judgment and sit with you as you further explore them to further your own self growth and well-being. I express respect, understanding and unconditional positive regard towards your situation, experiences and feelings as we work together through challenges that are difficult to tackle on our own. While exploring your life experience I will work with you towards your goals and offer help in skill development in areas such as, but not limited to communication, boundaries, stress management, coping and improved self-esteem and well-being.
I am currently a Master of Counselling Psychology student at Yorkville University. Prior to starting the master’s program, I completed a bachelor’s degree at Simon Fraser University with a major in psychology and minor in counselling and human development. During my life and several different work experiences after my undergrad, I decided to further pursue my teaching degree at the University of British Columbia. The knowledge and experiences I have gained through my education, work, teaching and relationships with coworkers, clients and personal has allowed me to develop a depth of interpersonal skills which support clients in improved health and well-being. I approach well-being from a holistic stance understanding the importance of health in our mind, body and spirit.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in the value that accepting ourselves without judgment allows for personal healing and growth towards changes in improved health and well-being. I believe in meeting the client where they are at and supporting an exploration of their own life experiences. I offer an integrated approach to counselling where I may use different theories catered to support your unique needs. My passions in my personal life shine through in my personality and my ability to help, as I have taken many steps to engage in things I find true joy in and maintain my health through my own development in my mind, body and spirit. I enjoy a lot of time outside on trails walking or hiking and enjoying hobbies such as kayaking, camping and snowboarding. While life can be challenging to fit in healthy routines I have developed skills to increase my own well-being and apply this approach to support clients in increasing their own strengths, abilities and resources.
