What to expect from a Jikiden Reiki session:

After a short consultation, the client lies fully clothed on a Reiki table, with soft lighting, relaxing music, soothing water fountain or per request, no sound at all. The session will start with gentle touch to the head.

During a Jikiden Reiki session, no oils or other substances are applied to the body.  While the focus of a Reiki session is on the major organs of the body, Reiki energy reaches and benefits every cell.

During a Reiki treatment, the practitioner’s hands are placed on the head, the face, the upper body (neck to hip) and the back (from shoulders to feet). Reiki can also be applied directly to any injured part of the body that is of particular concern to the patient. Jikiden Reiki physical treatments last anywhere from 60-90 minutes and are generally concentrated on the head, upper back, lower back, kidneys and the soles of the feet. Most clients enter a very relaxed sate and some even fall asleep. Energy flows through the practitioner to you.

In Jikiden Reiki, we don’t work with set hand positions, but instead focus treatment on the areas where there are accumulations of toxins. Reiki can be a used as a relaxation tool but is not just for relaxation.  It is a hands-on traditional healing method and Reiki facilitates the connection between the mind, body and spirit, creating a sense of overall wellness in the body.

After a session, you may experience a feeling of lightness, like a weight lifted from you.  You are invited to sit for a few minutes while your body adjusts to the energetic changes.  You may enjoy a glass of water and over the next few days keep your body hydrated to help in the release of built up toxins.

Jikiden Reiki treatment is not meant to replace traditional health care but as mentioned can be used in conjunction with other therapies or treatment to help promote health & wellness.

I was first introduced to Reiki in 2005, a dear friend of mine gave me a gift certificate to attend a Reiki session to help alleviate some struggles I was having at a difficult time in my life.  I loved it… I felt so much relief, lightness and focus when I left my first session.  Unfortunately, I did not get the opportunity to continue with attending Reiki sessions and went 14 years before being able to receive this wonderful form of healing treatment again.

So, when remembering how I felt after my Reiki session back in 2005 and at a time in my life when I felt I could really benefit from a Reiki session again, I began to search for a Reiki practitioner. During my  research I luckily found a Reiki practitioner in an area I was familiar with and decided to make my appointment.  This is how I discovered Usui Reiki Ryoho (Jikiden) and learned about the differences from the Western Reiki I had previously received. Although I did love the Reiki I had known, I learned that Jikiden in Japanese means “a secret art transmitted (handed down) from ones teacher”,  and it is the truly original and authentic Japanese form of Usui Reiki Ryoho practiced and taught in Japan for centuries and is where the more familiar westernized Reiki had evolved from.

When I received my first Jikiden Reiki session I was reminded of how much Reiki had benefitted me in the past and how beneficial the treatment was.  I was also extremely happy to learn that my new Reiki practitioner was in fact Japanese, and that she was also a teacher of this true and authentic Japanese form of Reiki. She herself was trained by the great Japanese founder of Jikiden Reiki Japan – Mr. Tadao Yamaguchi.  I was adamant that I wanted to learn this wonderful art form of healing.  I enrolled immediately!

I am  Jikiden Reiki Shoden and Okuden Certified. My Usui Reiki Treatment Method for Improvement of Body and Mind Certification allows me to practice Hands on Reiki, Psychological Reiki and Distant Reiki.

I am Registered with the Jikiden Reiki Institute in Kyoto, Japan. I am also a Member of the Jikiden Reiki Association of Canada

Jikiden Reiki supports the whole person physically, emotionally and mentally, improving all functions of the body.  Reiki works for both physical and psychological aspects of health by reactivating the natural healing ability that all people already possess. It is safely absorbed, distributed and balanced within the body to meet its specific needs.

Some benefits of receiving this gentle “Hands On” healing method are that Reiki brings the body into a deep relaxed state. Helps to clear and settle your mind, helping to achieve a sense of inner peace. Reiki helps with alleviating and lessening many symptoms of physical and emotional ailments such as:

Helps to heal injuries, reduces stress, depression and anxiety, helps reduce body pain in shoulders, neck, back, hips, etc. Helps to alleviate headaches/migraines, strengthens the immune system. Promotes relaxation, and increases energy and vitality.

Reiki encourages the body to release the accumulation of toxins, and that can naturally help to relieve pain.

Jikiden Reiki can be used alone or is a great compliment to other forms of therapies and conventional treatments, helping  speed up the healing process.
