Clinical Counsellor, Play Therapist

Feeling heard and unconditionally accepted can help us feel safe while exploring vulnerable parts of ourselves. This can be especially important if the thoughts and feelings that live within our vulnerability prevent us from feeling like we deserve to grow and be at ease with ourselves. I therefore consider it a sincere honour to be able to sit with you as we navigate and process what brought you to counselling. Moreover, I find passion in collaborating with you on ways that we can challenge the thoughts and feelings that stifle your inner peace, self-acceptance, and hope.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree from Yorkville University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Simon Fraser University. Initially I pursued psychology because I wanted to develop a deeper understanding of people. I therefore volunteered for several non-profit organizations both during and after my undergraduate studies. During my time as a volunteer, I worked with diverse people in socially and therapeutically supportive ways. These experiences evolved my love for learning about people into a love for listening to their stories. However, my previous volunteer work as a crisis line call-taker solidified my passion for playing an active role in supporting people therapeutically. It is now my honour to do this as a clinical counsellor.

While my approach to therapy is Person-Centered, I think about the person primarily from a Cognitive Behavioural lens. As such, I utilize related interventions, though I also integrate elements of Existential, Narrative, Gestalt, Mindfulness-Based, and Solution-Focused therapies as well. Regardless of how I conceptualize the person and their situation, I remain dedicated to personalizing the therapeutic experience by being flexible, collaborative, and affirming.

I believe that each person already has the inner resources to grow and make positive changes. However, sometimes, we need some extra support accessing those resources. As a counsellor, I aim to foster a supportive, healing environment to help you connect with yourself, get in touch with your inner wisdom, and create meaningful changes in your life.

In our work together, we will identify and transform the patterns you developed to survive, but are no longer serving you. This will look like exploring your behaviours, emotions, thoughts, expectations, and the meaning you make of your concerns. We will also explore the impact of the systems in which you exist, such as your family and cultural contexts.

By looking at each layer of your experience, we can identify your stuck points and help you feel empowered to make choices in alignment with who you are. I take a collaborative and anti-oppressive approach to therapy, so throughout the process, I will always emphasize choice and safety.

I have worked as a Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist at Richmond General and BC Children’s for the past few years. This role has afforded me the opportunity to be part of multidisciplinary care teams specializing in

autoimmune disorders, cancer, and chronic illnesses. Through this experience, I have developed a deep understanding of the importance of a therapeutic presence in providing compassionate care to vulnerable individuals and their families in all stages of their healing journey.

Outside of therapy sessions, I love spending quality moments with family and friends, often bonding over cooking delicious meals. I also enjoy exploring the outdoors with my Aussiedoodle, Link, who brings joy and adventure to our walks together.

Intern Counsellor, Play Therapist

Navigating life’s challenges can be overwhelming, whether you are a young person facing change, a parent supporting a struggling child, or an individual working through personal hardships. It’s not always easy to know where to turn or how to take the next step toward healing. Feelings of anxiety, depression, and uncertainty can weigh heavily, making it difficult to move forward. My role as a counsellor is to create a safe and supportive space where individuals can process their emotions, build resilience, and develop strategies for navigating life’s ups and downs.

As a practicum student counsellor specializing in working with children, youth, and adults, I take a person-centred, holistic approach to therapy. This means that you are in control of our sessions- you decide what feels important to explore, and I am here to listen, support, and guide you through the process. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, difficulties with identity, self-harm, or life transitions, I aim to foster a therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy, and understanding.

My background includes a bachelor’s degree in psychology honours and experience supporting neurodiverse individuals and those facing mental health struggles. Before my counselling practicum, I worked as a youth development worker at Whytecliff Agile Learning Centre, supporting high school students with social-emotional challenges, learning disabilities, and self-advocacy skills. I have also worked as a behavioural interventionist for children with autism and an after-school art and public speaking instructor, helping youth build confidence and self-expression. These experiences have strengthened my ability to work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation, ADHD, and autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

I believe that healing begins in the safety of human connection, where your story is heard, your pain is honoured, and your voice is reclaimed. I believe that everyone holds strength and power within them, even when life makes it hard to feel it. Healing isn’t always linear, it is a series of small, brave steps forward. My role is to walk beside you with compassion and curiosity, creating a space where you feel seen, understood, and supported. Together, we will take those steps, one at a time.
I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology through Athabasca University and working as a counselling intern under clinical supervision. After graduation, I plan to register as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BCACC,

My path into this work has been shaped by both lived experience and a deep curiosity about people, how they navigate difficulty, how they hold pain, and how they find meaning in the midst of it all. I have worked in leadership roles for over a decade, volunteered in the community, and completed undergraduate research focused on loneliness and aging. I also live with a chronic illness, which has taught me firsthand how strength and struggle can exist side-by-side, and how important it is to be met with understanding. These experiences have deepened my compassion and solidified my belief that people are incredibly resilient, and that even in the darkest moments, there is the possibility for insight and healing.

In my counselling work, I am especially passionate about supporting individuals through grief and loss, chronic illness, identity shifts, relational issues, and life transitions.  I aim to be a steady presence as we make sense of those experiences together. I believe that even when emotions feel overwhelming, they hold valuable information, and with support people can learn to accept where they are and take empowered steps toward who they want to become. Even when that strength feels far away, I believe it is still there, waiting to be remembered, one step at a time.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in person-centered and existential perspectives, meaning I value deep listening, collaborative exploration, and a focus on meaning-making. I also integrate tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Narrative Therapy, which offer practical ways to move through emotional pain, reconnect with personal values, and create sustainable, values-based change. Healing is not about erasing pain, but about integrating it, making meaning from it in a way that empowers you to be who you want to be.

Outside of my counselling work, I find joy in the quiet moments, reading, writing, spending time with my dogs, and reflecting on how to make life a more peaceful and intentional place. I am always learning about others and about myself, because I believe growth is a life-long journey. I believe we all deserve to live a life that feels connected to who we are, and who we are becoming. If you have lost that connection, I would be honoured to help you find your way back to it.

Areas I am able to support you include, but are not limited to:

  • Existential concerns and purpose.
  • Trauma and post-traumatic growth.
  • Chronic illness and invisible or visible pain.
  • Grief and loss.
  • Anxiety and depression.
  • Stress and emotional overwhelm.
  • Life transition and identity shifts.
  • Relationship and family dynamics.
  • Young adulthood and emerging adulthood.
  • Older adulthood and aging-related concerns.
  • Values-based living and meaning-making.
  • Self-compassion and emotional regulation.

I understand how much dedication, energy, and trust go into building a relationship. Oftentimes, involving a neutral party can help the couple to explore their relationship in a safe and respectful manner. I focus on skill building in areas such as empathy, listening, healthy communication, and conflict resolution. My work is grounded in a person-centered approach, where I believe you are each experts of your own life.

I’m currently attending Yorkville University as a Master of Counselling Psychology student. I am a student member of BCACC and CCPA, and upon graduation I intend to register as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and Canadian Clinical Counsellor (CCC).
